Meet Lauren Tickner

We are so excited to announce that the incredible Lauren Tickner will be joining us at LoveFit Festival, so we caught up with her to find out a little bit more about her journey into fitness, how you can follow in her footsteps and what to expect from her at the festival. 

How did your journey into health and fitness begin and what was your inspiration?

I first began when I was around 16. I was overweight and deeply unhappy, which led me to losing weight in a rapid and unhealthy way. This caused a whole host of issues for me including anxiety and a lack of self-confidence. I began having such bad panic attacks on a daily basis that I knew I needed to do something about it, so I turned to weight training… and I fell in love with it! It helped me shift my focus away from just aesthetics, to focusing on fuelling my body and seeing food as energy for my workouts. And I now love exercise because it makes me feel good and helps me be more productive and motivated in all areas of my life!

Tell us a little bit about your hashtag #Strengthfeed and why you started it?

#StrengthFeed was born as a hashtag: a place whereby people share their journeys to become stronger. #StrengthFeed started as a movement to empower men and women, both young and old to below STRONGER. But not only physically, mentally too. Strength is not just about that which can be seen. Within, finding strength enables you to achieve new heights.. and overcome things which you never thought you would be able to.

What are your top tips to become successful in the fitness industry?

1. Know your target audience - this is so IMPORTANT! If you know who your ideal client is, you can create content with them in mind, which means they will see your as an expert in your field and likely begin following you!

2. …This brings me onto point two! Provide VALUABLE content consistently over time. It’s all well and good posting a photo of your meal in Tupperware  but what value is that providing to your target client? Instead, perhaps post a recipe video with a detailed caption starting with ‘EASY MEAL PREP RECIPE’ which proceeds to explain all the ingredients and the step-by-step ‘how to’! Much more value which will help people get to know, like and trust you!

3. Figure out how you can stand out. The fitness industry is SUPER saturated, so it’s important to find your voice and see what your audience resonates with so that you can make yourself attractive to potential followers! This is all about testing things and seeing what works. It’s important that your audience enjoys this content but ALSO that you enjoy making it. Thinking of the long term is fundamental, so if you’re not truly being yourself, then you won’t be able to keep up with that it is that you are trying to do.
